The history of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual people is as old as the history of mankind itself. What is different is its presence in recorded history. LGBT history started unravelling itself in late 19th century America as a new wave of cultural freedom brought out a closeted aspect of human existence.

Today, LGBT history is a well documented research topic in the west, with October/June being marked as ‘LGBT History month’ in many parts of the world, and the subject being taught in Universities and even High Schools.

India, with its myriad forms of gender identity and sexualities making their presence felt throughout a history spanning thousands of years, has yet to open up to this subject. From the unapologetic homosexuality of the Kamasutra to the homoerotic temples of Khajuraho, and the love interests of Mughal emperors and Sufi saints, Indians have not been unaware of the existence of LGBT people in their midst.

In Mingle’s most ambitious project till now, we are proud to launch India’s first LGBT History Certification Course. The course itself is free of cost, and the content is being developed by a team of professionals and students who’re archiving a colossal volume of data in the form of books, articles and research papers.

The Course will be formally launched, hopefully in a couple of months. The course can be taken by anyone who registers on our site. One can choose between online or printed materials. Those who successfully complete the course will be provided with a Certificate and a small gift from the Mingle team.
